Education


The Education team is charged with developing and coordinating an effective teaching ministry that provides study and growth opportunities for all members of the congregation.






Ages 3 - Grade 8

  • participate on Sunday mornings, 9:15-10:15 am, September though May

 

3 and 4 year olds

  • participate in a traditional model Sunday school, having one teacher both semesters
  • currently we use Hands On Bible curriculum designed for this age group

 

Grades K-5

  • participate in rotational style Sunday school, where teachers rotate through the classrooms
  • focus is on teaching Bible stories in ways that meet the needs of different learning styles
  • various workshops include:  art, cooking, games, nature, science, and storytelling

 

Grades 6-8

  • participate in confirmation programming, with teaching shared by the pastors and lay leaders
  • the focus is on ELCA:
    • Evangelical - what is the Story we tell (6th grade)
    • Lutheran – how we understand the Story from a Lutheran perspective (7th grade)
    • Church in America – how we live the Story (8th grade)

 

Confirmation Bible Camp

  • a one week Crossways Camping Ministries outdoor retreat held at WayPost Camp in Bevent
  • confirmation retreat is for all students having completed 7th grade
  • held the first week after the Marshfield Public School year ends
  • all tuition is paid by the congregation
  • one of our staff is on-site the entire week

 

Adult Discussion Groups

  • Sundays, 9:15-10:15 am, September through May
  • Tuesdays, 8:45-10:00 am, year round
